JOANN LACIN: In the Spring of 2007, when Alan Morinis entered her class for Jewish Spiritual Directors, Joann Lacin’s life changed. As he began to teach Mussar, she found herself growing in unexpected ways. The growth continues today and Joann’s hope is for that feeling to emerge within all of her students. She and her husband, Mike, live in central New Jersey near the ocean. Their two children and spouses have given them five beautiful grandchildren. She is pictured here with one of them.

BONNIE LEOPOLD: Bonnie is a chaplain and a trained Mussar facilitator with many years of experience facilitating Mussar groups in the South Bay and beyond. She has been an active community member of The Mussar Institute since 2007 and has had the same chevruta partner since she began. Bonnie has attended five TMI kallot and one summer academy in Amsterdam. She has facilitated A Season of Mussar I and II and many groups using Everyday Holiness as a guide. Currently, Bonnie participants in an advanced women’s va’ad.

FRANCINE McMAHON: Francine is CEO and Founder of Capitol Image Counsel. Throughout her career, Francine’s primary objective and dedication have been maximizing potential and success of both individuals and organizations. Francine is a graduate of TMI’s Yesod program.

TUESDAYS: 7-9 p.m. E.T., June 18-September 10 without chevruta. Registration closes May 31.


HELAINE SHEIAS: Helaine is a Certified Yoga Therapist and Founder of Yinspiration Yoga—a Therapeutic Approach to Yin Yoga. Helaine holds a Ph.D. in Human Sciences and is a graduate of the Socially Engaged Spirituality Program at Saybrook University. Born in Massachusetts, Helaine made Aliyah to Israel in her teens, served in the IDF, and settled in Israel for more than two decades. She returned to the U.S. in 2007 and has found her place in the Bay Area. Yoga reopened her passion for spiritual journeying, igniting her curiosity in Mussar and Jewish learning. She is a graduate of the Yesod training program and looks forward to facilitating TMI Mussar courses, live and online. Mussar has opened her heart, softened her soul, and lifted her spirit. She feels blessed and honored to embrace Mussar as part of her Jewish spiritual journey.
