Training Community Mussar Facilitators Do you feel called to facilitate or help support others on a spiritual Mussar path like you may be on? If so, the Mussar Institute’s Manchim Program is waiting for you. More than 35 people have graduated from the Manchim Program, which qualifies them to help fill a growing need for capable Mussar group facilitators. It is a sensitive leadership role, but with the program’s training, facilitators are equipped with the tools to help members of their own community engage in personal development and growth through Mussar learning and practice. If you have experience with Mussar Institute courses or just a solid background in Mussar learning and want to bring Season of Mussar curriculum to your community, the Manchim Program is a perfect next step for you on your spiritual journey. Manchim develop values, skills, and characteristics needed to facilitate small study groups in the ways and traditions of Mussar, with the next training begins on October 24. It takes place in two phases. The first phase is an intensive interactive three-week Internet- and telephone based-training, which explores facilitation issues, tools and techniques unique to Mussar groups. The training highlights skills and perspectives needed to facilitate a Mussar group and helps trainees use the va'adprocess to foster their own spiritual growth. The second phase is a six-month follow-up period during which trainees lead pilot Season of Mussar groups. Trainees continue to study with their learning partner or chevruta and interact with their support group during this phase. They also prepare valuable reports to help identify areas to be strengthened and have access to personal coaching as needed. In addition to course curriculum developed by Alan Morinis, Shirah Bell and senior Pathlighters of The Mussar Institute, trainees receive assistance from experienced va'adfacilitators who share their insights and coaching.
