Personal Practice Retreat

 

With a chevruta, a personal guide, and in groups, you will focus on your personal spiritual curriculum and enhance your Mussar skills through study, meditation, journaling, prayer and chanting.

Mussar Practice Retreat

Could your spiritual practice use a charge? Looking for ways to connect to a greater good? Seeking community with other souls on your path? The Mussar Practice Retreat is a 3-day workshop that will boost your spirit and send you home with new practices to sustain your growth for months to come.

  • Learn and experience classic Mussar spiritual practices including chanting, journaling, meditation and kabbalot.
  • Learn practical, tangible ways to use Mussar in your life.
  • Deepen your connections in one-on-one time with faculty members.
  • Participate in a Mussar va’ad (small group).
  • Choose personal middot to focus on.
  • Engage in quiet reflection time.

    Teachers

    • Avi Fertig, Associate Dean of The Mussar Institute; author of Bridging the Gap and Stairway to the Sky.
    • Cyndee Levy, Director, Center for Jewish Learning at Jewish Federation of St. Louis, is a certified facilitator of Mussar and serves as the Melton Director for the St Louis community.
    • Chaim Safren, Head of the Calgary Community Kollel, where he teaches Mussar. He spent many summers studying Mussar in the Novardok yeshiva in France.

    Whether you are a beginner or advanced Mussar student, you are welcome to benefit from the Practice Retreat.
