Kallah Recap

To what may Awe be likened? To the tremor of fear which a father feels when his beloved young son rides his shoulders as he dances with him and rejoices before him, taking care that he not fall off. Here there is joy that is incomparable, pleasure that is incomparable. And the fear tied up with them is pleasant, too. It does not impede the freedom of dance.

New “Middah a Month” Program for 2013

Announcing a new Mussar study and practice opportunity: Accounting of the Soul Cheshbon HaNefesh

Don't have time to take a Mussar course? Want to practice Mussar on your own schedule? Or, maybe you have a small group of friends or a chevruta looking for a good, new study program?

Then the new Middah A Month Accounting of the Soul (Cheshbon HaNefesh) program could be for you. Middah A Month presents one character trait each month for you to work on. As a subscriber, you will receive:

  • Selected traditional and contemporary readings related to the middah
  • Suggested daily practices including chants and affirmations
  • A private online forum to share thoughts and experiences

Throughout the month, program members share with each other and reflect deeply on the wide array of classic and contemporary readings sent out at the beginning of that month. We presently have over 100 members.

Beginning January 2013, the new program will draw on the middot featured in the book Cheshbon HaNefesh. Each month will focus on a different trait from that classic text, starting with equanimity and running through all 13 traits by the end of January 2014. Each month you will receive an email with the text and all the other material for your learning and practice on the middah of that month.

If you sign up by December 31, 2012, you will receive the full 13 months for the price of 12. If you are already a Middah A Month subscriber, you do not have to do anything. You will already be enrolled in the new program. The cost for the 13 months is $70 . Please note that monthly payment options are no longer available to new subscribers. Register now.

If you have any questions about this program, please contact Modya Silver at
