You Shall Be Holy has been customized for Reconstructionist Congregations.

The Jewish tradition of Mussar offers the Jewish world a deep and rich experience of spirituality. In this introductory program, participants are brought into a deep exploration of the nine most important soul-traits or middot. The text, which every participant receives, is the inspiring book, Everyday Holiness, by Alan Morinis, Founder of The Mussar Institute. Based on the text, participants are guided through a weekly study of one middah. Through discussions in a safe, small group of like-minded seekers, led by a facilitator trained by The Mussar Institute, participants explore and create their own personal life curriculum.

Each participant receives a copy of Everyday Holiness to guide their study with weekly lessons. It is our consistent experience that the wisdom of Mussar helps people develop awareness and wisdom for living and often leads to spiritual transformation.

Congregations receive a comprehensive package of educational and spiritual tools including suggested Newsletter Text and a One-Hour Meeting to Introduce the Course.

I don’t know if my first comment made it to you so I shall repeat them as briefly as possible. I am the president of a small shul (70+ members) in Ajijic, Mexico….Lake Chapala Jewish Congregtion. This seems an ideal time to begin a Mussar study group. I wrote asking you for suggestions on drawing people together with questions as to the following
What would be a minimum sized group to get started? Suggestions for introducing Mussar? Any materials in Spanish? Any sliding scale available for membership or classes?

    Any help appreciated.

      Hi Maureen,

So wonderful that you will start a Mussar group where you are. We are an international organization with groups in Europe, South Africa, Australia, Brazil, Canada and more.

I apologize for the huge delay! It’s a new website for us and I wasn’t used to looking for comments. I’ll pass your message on to Rivka Felsher immediately. She’ll respond within 24 hours. If you don’t hear for some reason, please contact me: Debra Pinger debra@mussarinstitute.org.
