The Women's Va'ad
The Women's Va'ad is now retired from our regular course repertoire so that it can be more widely distributed to synagogues and other local organizations wishing to deliver Mussar content from women's perspective.
The Jewish tradition of Mussar does not lack wisdom from and for women. In this advanced program, participants are brought into a deep exploration of the 19 Mussar concepts and soul-traits or middot: anger, patience, judging, decision making, gratitude, tranquility, jealousy/envy, a positive eye, accounting of the soul, kabbalot/practices, enthusiasm, silence, damaging speech, holding grudges, rebuke, prayer/trust/humor, arrogance, honor, and unconditional love.
The Women’s Va’ad is based on the teachings of Rebbetzin Dina Schoonmaker of Jerusalem and features the recorded teachings of Rebbetzin Dina Schoonmaker. Your participants will engage in self-study, va'ad meetings, paired chevruta study, and personal practice, to help guide you through the Rebbetzin’s teachings is a Source Sheet of references in the order she quotes them. These sources are also to be used to create an affirmation phrase for chanting. Each of the Rebbetzin’s lessons ends with a monthly practice (kabbalah), which becomes your focus for the month. Your participants discuss this practice both with their chevruta partner and va’ad mates.
