Week 5: Focusing on Humility (Anavah)
C - Contemplate: “Those who deny their strengths are not humble, but rather foolish. Rather, the humble are those who understand that all their strengths and accomplishments are a gift from heaven. The they recognize this, the more humble they are.” (Rabbi Leib Chasman)
O - Observe: What are your gifts? What natural abilities do you possess for which you cannot claim credit but can only appreciate?
U - Use: “Let not the wise glory in their wisdom; let not the strong glory in their strength” (Jeremiah 9:22–23)
N - Notice which virtues you feel you most lack. Could you be more generous, more patient, more truthful? Consider that where you feel you come up short—because you recognize how much value you place on this virtue—might actually be an indication of where your strengths lie.
T - Try: Express gratitude—to God and/or your parents, in a journal or aloud—for a different gift of yours each morning this week.
